So proud to be part of this amazing team of dedicated visionaries. The vision was a local community driven artistry coffee shop, boasting with friendly faces and of course tonnes of style – something out of the ordinary in Surrey suburbia.
At the initial meeting I introduced my highly recommended graphic artist. While the two of us were being interviewed by the potential clients, my artist Steve Brooks casually mentioned how great I was at decorating our home and the cat was out of the bag – husband and wife team. The husband and wife clients loved the concept of a creative couple working on their family run business and we were hired on the spot!
It was a four month adventure with lots of ups and actually not many downs. When I first saw the space, it was as the torn-up remnants of an expired Blockbuster store – but I could still imagine a hip, comfortable unique space for the neighbours to come and meet for a coffee.
A storyboard was created after listening to the owners VJ, Michelle and Alexa’s ideal look. They sent me pictures, referred to their favorite coffee shops and explained their every need – Cuatro Coffee graphic and interior design was born. The drawings were brought to life almost perfectly thanks to Karey Bobyk’s Restaurant Construction team.
Polished concrete flooring, rustic recalled fir, shiny quarts counters, refurbished brick veneer; Mixing these finishes created the perfect back drop to a modern yet classic coffee shop vibe.
A modern twist on a classic wallpaper pattern, timeless furniture pieces, high-gloss covered wood tables, Uber chic lighting and an over sized tufted leather banquette are what adds interest to the simple back drop.
It’s definitely worth the trip to Cuatro Coffee to experience the unique parisian-industrial inspired decor
and, of course…
…enjoy one of their irresistible homemade baked goods. I did!
You can visit Cuatro Coffee at 202-9014 152nd Street, in Surrey BC.
